I started working in this field back in the days of typesetters
and paste-up artists, snagging jobs up and down the East Coast
because I could type 85+ wpm. Years of desktop publishing in
the advertising and direct marketing fields included time in pre-press
shops and service bureaus where I learned the arts of digital retouching
and restoration.
My unique understanding of layout and design has been infused with a skewed
(yes, refrakted) view of the graphic and web industries, resulting in work that is
functional, beautiful, yet somehow not-quite-right.
At the same time, my work with photography evolved into the world of digital art. Just as it took a few decades for photographers to be considered
artists who could merit being shown in an art gallery; the same evolution is currently sparking for digital artists.
Visit both Refrakted's graphic portfolio and original art often, as there are always new and strange things to see.
